Winter has officially ended but not here in NZ. The last week and a half has been such a crazy time, with temps only reaching 5 degrees C on several days, and feeling a lot colder when considering the wind chill factor. New Zealand’s South island has had an awful month, as if the Christchurch Earthquake and Fox Glacier plane crash weren’t enough, now the farmers are in trouble with 100s of thousands of lambs killed due to the bitterly cold conditions. Hopefully things can return to normal quickly for everyone’s sake. I can certainly sympathise with the residents of Christchurch, since the big quake struck 3 weeks ago they’ve had to endure over 800 AFTERSHOCKS, as well as a couple of ground shaking Metallica concerts!
Well, I’ve only just realised that I really don’t have much time left over here. With a trip back to Oz in early November and then straight into the American Southwest for 10 days, my planned mid December exit from NZ is fast approaching, so from next week until mid December I’ll be going non stop photographing locations (NZ Spring & USA Autumn) at their absolutely most stunning seasonal best. I have my long list of locations and preferred times of day and year all ready to go. This time of year is a landscape photographers dream, and I honestly can’t wait to go exploring again, regardless of weather.
